For OES Participating Employers

As an employer, you know the importance of accurate labor market information.  Providing this information to Colorado's business and government decision makers is the responsibility of the Labor Market Information section (LMI) of the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment.  To meet this priority, LMI compiles data that:

•  spotlight emerging and declining occupations;

•  identify job skills subject to increasing and decreasing demand;

•  present average earnings in specific occupations within and across industries;

•  clarify areas where vocational and educational programs are needed.

These data are collected through the Occupational Employment Statistics (OES) survey, which is mandated by Congress and conducted jointly by the State of Colorado and the US Bureau of Labor Statistics.  This program collects information about the composition of your work force – specifically, employment and wages by occupation.

We ask for the information directly from employers because individual businesses are the only source of these data.  Your firm was scientifically selected to participate.  Each firm included in the sample represents many similar firms, so it is really important for us to hear from you.

Your response will be held in strict confidence and combined with those from other employers, then summarized for statistical purposes only.  No individual employers can be identified.  We do not share your individual information with other units of the Department of Labor or with other State agencies.

We realize that you are busy, and we would like to make your participation in the OES program as easy as possible.  Click on How to Respond for further information.
