(DENVER) – The Colorado Department of Labor and Employment will be providing a Layoff Transition Workshop to Adam Aircraft workers on Friday, February 22, to help them deal with the emotional and financial effects of the plant closure. According to published reports, Adam Aircraft filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy on February 15. All of its 800 employees will be or have been laid off
The loss of a job brings fear, uncertainty and doubt about the future and this workshop, which will be made at the Clarion Hotel at 7770 South Peoria (at Arapahoe and Peoria) in Englewood is designed to provide workers with important information to help them get back on their feet with a plan of action. A morning session is available from 9 AM to 11 AM and an afternoon session will be held from 1 PM to 3 PM.
At the free workshop, representatives from the Department of Labor and Employment’s Rapid Response team will tell workers how to file for Unemployment benefits and time will be devoted to discussing how to manage finances, including health benefits and pensions after a layoff. Training dollars may be available and workshop presenters will help workers determine if they need training and, if so, how and when they can access those funds. Attendees will also receive job placement assistance and discover the most effective job search strategies. The Department of Labor and Employment has been working closely with several aviation companies in Colorado and will offer valuable information at the workshops about current job openings in the industry.
More importantly, the support doesn’t end when the workshop wraps up. Adam Aircraft workers will learn about ongoing free services that will be available to them at their nearest Workforce Center. Employment specialists at Metro area Workforce Centers can provide career counseling, job search assistance, résumé preparation assistance, information on the local job market and more.
No reservation is required to attend either of Friday’s two workshops. All employees affected by this layoff are encouraged to attend.
