GLENWOOD SPRINGS WORKFORCE CENTER
OFFERS JOB FAIR ON MAY 3

(GLENWOOD SPRINGS) – The Glenwood Springs Workforce Center invites job seekers to a job fair on Saturday, May 3 from 10 AM to 3 PM.  The fair will take place at Roaring Fork High School, 2270 Highway 133 in Carbondale.

The May 3 event is co-sponsored by KSNO 93.5/103.9.  “We’re proud to be working with KSNO in staging this event,” says Kathleen Kline.  “They are a valuable partner and together we are creating an important hiring event for job seekers and employers in Pitkin, Garfield and Eagle Counties.”

Kline says that the participating employers are seeking a wide diversity of employees from entry-level to experienced and supervisory.  “We will even have some summer job opportunities for teens.  Whether you’re ready to make a major career transition or simply want to explore your options, you’ll find employers at the event who will be interested in talking with you.”

And, she adds, it’s a very time-effective way to meet with recruiters from a wide variety of companies.  “During the day you can meet with many company representatives.  Job seekers can set up interviews and establish valuable new contacts in much less time than this kind of networking normally takes.”

The event on May 3 offers job seekers some unique opportunities:

§                     Learn about jobs at leading businesses in the area.

§                     Talk to representatives from companies and agencies.

§                     Interview with professionals in an informational setting.

§                     Meet with professionals from the Workforce Center and learn about the free services they can provide you.

§                     Gain an edge on your career search by developing relationships with professionals in the fields that interest you.

But without good preparation, the opportunity will be wasted. “Keep in mind that although the atmosphere may be casual, the recruiters you’ll be talking with will be closely screening you,” Kline advises.  “So be personable and ready to summarize your skills in a noisy environment.  The goal is to leave a clear impression of the benefits you have to offer.”

If you think job fairs are only for entry-level candidates and don’t offer a diversity of opportunities, come to the May 3 job fair.  You’ll discover positions available at all levels and, best of all, the companies are there because they need new talent.  Employers interested in participating in this free event, should contact the Glenwood Springs Workforce Center at 970-945-8638.  Space is limited so reserve your table now.
