Labor Exchange
Labor Exchange funds are used to assist persons in
One-Stop Career Centers secure employment. These funds are also used to
provide job seekers with job market information, job search assistance,
and skills assessment. Employers also benefit from these services in the
form of worker recruitment. Now Wagner-Peyser services to job seekers
include assessment of skill levels, abilities and aptitudes; career
guidance when appropriate; job search workshops; and referral to
employers. The services offered to employers, in addition to referral of
job seekers to job openings, include matching job requirements with job
seeker experience, skills and other attributes; helping with special
recruitment needs; assisting employers analyze hard-to-fill job orders;
assisting with job restructuring; and helping employers. States are
expected to provide these services within their One-Stop Career Centers
nationwide.
The Nationwide Recovery Act provided an additional
$396,000,000 for Labor-Exchange activities (including
Reemployment Services). The federal allocation is based on unemployment,
job seekers served, and size of region in square miles.
Colorado’s allocation equals $2,329,663
Ninety percent of the sums allotted under the ARRA
will be used for numerous types of employment services, including job
search and placement services for job seekers, and worker recruitment
for employers.
