Senate Bill (SB) 09-247: UI Modernization
  • SB 09-247 established an alternative base period in Colorado.  The annual estimated cost of this provision is $6,473,544. Additionally, SB 09-247 enacts conforming language that will make Colorado unemployment insurance laws comply with UI Modernization provisions concerning separating from employment for compelling family reasons. The annual estimated cost of these provisions is $2,354,970.
  • By implementing these provisions, the state of Colorado will receive $127,469,762 in federal incentive funding.
  • Colorado law currently allows for the payment of benefits to persons seeking part-time employment.
  • Over the next 10 years, the department anticipates receiving between $6,362,600 and $8,286,185 in annual interest earned from the federal UI Modernization distribution.
