Emergency Unemployment Compensation
Legislation has passed authorizing the payment of up to 13 weeks of additional Emergency Unemployment Compensation (EUC) benefits for eligible, unemployed individuals for weeks beginning on or after July 6, 2008. The Colorado Department of Labor and Employment will contact individuals who may qualify for EUC with filing instructions. EUC claims cannot be filed over the regular UI Customer Contact telephone numbers (local and toll free). For more information, visit Emergency Unemployment Compensation.

Unemployment Insurance Claim Self-Service Resource Guide
Because of a high call volume, callers to the Unemployment Insurance (UI) Customer Contact Center are currently experiencing a long wait time before speaking with a customer-service representative. To avoid long wait times, read Publication B-19, Unemployment Insurance Handbook for Claimants, as your first source of information about UI claims. For other methods of obtaining information about your UI claim, read the Unemployment Insurance Claim Self-Service Resource Guide.

Workplace Accommodations for Nursing Mothers

A new law concerning workplace accommodations for nursing mothers became effective on August 5, 2008. For more information, visit www.coworkforce.com/lab/nursingmothers.asp

Attention:  The Unemployment Insurance (UI) Program deposits all benefit payments directly to the Colorado Automated Payment (CAP) Card. The UI Program through its agent Chase Bank (Chase) issues the CAP Card. By filing an initial claim or reopening an existing claim for UI benefits, you automatically authorize the UI Program to release to Chase the information necessary to deposit payments to your CAP Card. For more information about the CAP Card, click on Colorado Automated Payment (CAP) Card. To contact Chase Customer Service, call the number on the back of your CAP Card or visit www.chase.com. For detailed information on your CAP Card account, visit www.myaccount.chase.com.

The Colorado Department of Labor & Employment has moved, (effective 5/31/05): Get Directions

Colorado is a great place to live and work.  At the Department of Labor and Employment, we want to ensure that this continues -- and that means never taking Colorado workers or the businesses that employ them, for granted.

We are committed to both employers and workers by providing an up to date accurate picture of the economy that helps in decision making; by assisting workers who have been injured on the job or lost a job through no fault of their own; by ensuring fair labor practices. And by protecting the work place-and Colorado communities-with a variety of safety programs.

Businesses and workers across the state are providing the intellectual capital, the energy, adaptability and talent that will build Colorado as this century progresses. The Colorado Department of Labor and Employment will be there to help at every step on the journey ahead.
