Agriculture experienced a slightly greater than normal seasonal drop. The decrease registered 15.1% for a loss of 3591 employees. All sectors declined over last quarter, however, the largest loss occurred in Agriculture Services (07) down 2404 employees. Larger than normal losses here are due in part to a late start for the planting season. Possible attrition from tree clean-up following the September 1995 snow storm may have contributed to the decline. Agri Prod-Crops (01) dropped 1132 employees. Vegetables & Melons (016) were responsible for about half of the decline. General Farms (019) and Field Crops Except Cash Grains (013) comprised the remainder of the sector drop. Horticulture Specialties (018) which includes growing of nursery stock seasonally increased in anticipation of spring planting.
ANNUAL

Agri Prod-Crops (01) experienced the second largest increase, up 262 employees. Growth was equally divided between Vegetables & Melons (016) and Horticulture Specialties (018). Agri Prod-Livestock (02) gained 151 employees. Livestock Except Dairy & Poultry (021) generated the bulk of the growth with most gains from activity in Hogs (0213).
