Agriculture followed typical seasonal patterns sharply gaining employees at the beginning of this growing season. Employment rose 35.2% adding 6759 employees. Agriculture Services (07) generated the bulk of the growth adding 4835 employees. Increased seasonal demand for lawn and garden services was the main component of growth adding almost 4275 employees. Seasonal increases for farm labor services added another approximately 575. Agri Prod- Crops (01) also incurred seasonal growth up 1728 employees. Increased labor for the production of nursery products & ornamentals and vegetables & melons generated most of the growth.
ANNUAL
The Agriculture industry realized 4.9% annual growth adding 1203 employees. Increased consumer demand for lawn and garden services and increased farm labor activity was evidenced by the addition of 797 employees to Agriculture Services (07). Agri Prod-Crops (01) added 231 employees. Greenhouse expansions and production increases for nursery stock caused growth in the Ornamental Floriculture & Nursery Products (0181) subsector to predominate. Agri Prod-Livestock (02) added 123 new employees. Over the year expansions in Hogs (0213) generated most of the growth.
