QUARTERLY
TCPU experienced another quarter of increases adding 1786 employees for a gain of 1.3% over third quarter. Increases were to some extent influenced by seasonal factors. Air Transportation (45) was the largest increasing sector gaining 1210 employees. Extra flights for holiday traveling and to accommodate skiers pushed employment up by 341 in scheduled air transportation and 143 in airport service. Air Courier Services which staffs up for holiday package delivery added 725. Local Transportation (41) added 354 employees over the quarter. Increases in this sector were also seasonal providing ground transport to ski destinations. The increase of 424 in Communications (48) was not seasonally influenced. Mergers and anticipation of volume sales caused mixed subsector activity. Telephone Communications fell by 744 while Telegraph & Other Message Communications rose by 377 and Cable & Other Pay Television Services rose by 693. Transport Services (47) added 313. Some expansion was reported, but most increases were seasonal. Electric-Gas-Sanitary Service (49) fell by 335. The decline was due to an attrition loss of 109 in Utility Services and project completions cutting 140 in Sanitary Services.
ANNUAL

Growth in Trucking-Warehousing (42) also topped one thousand, up 1026 employees. Trucking gained 806 employees and Warehousing 204. Electric-Gas-Sanitary Services (49) lost 1082 employees over the year. Sanitary Services realized the largest share of the loss down 460 due primarily to project completions at Rocky Flats.
