Services lost employment over the quarter dropping 407 employees or 0.1%. Hotels & Lodging (70) and Amusement & Recreation (79), down 4843 and 1465 employees, respectively, reflected seasonal decreases as the summer vacation season ended but the ski season was not active for the whole quarter. Membership Organizations (86) dropped 519 employees. Losses were also seasonal due to end of the summer cutbacks for some condominium associations. Business Services (73) incurred the largest employment increase offsetting the losses in other sectors. Employment grew 2950 employees with subsector gains in Computer Programming, Data Processing & Other Computer Related Services (737) and Misc Business Services (738). Social Services (83) added 990 employees. Child Day Care Services (835) generated better than half of the sector increase as many businesses returned from summer hiatus. Management & Public Relations Services (874) incurred most of the increase in Engineering Services (87). Engineering Services added 812 employees.

Services added 26,402 employees over a year ago, up 5.4%. In absolute numbers this was the largest growing industry in Colorado. Business Services (73), the largest increasing sector, added 11,537 employees. Computer Programming, Data Processing & Other Computer Related Services (737) was the largest increasing component of Business Services followed by Misc Business Services (738), which contains telemarketing, and Personnel Supply Services (736). Health Services (80) grew 3256 employees. Home Health Care Services (808) and Offices & Clinics of Doctors of Medicine (801) incurred the greatest growth with each adding over 800 employees. Engineering Services (87) increased 2561 employees. Engineering, Architectural & Surveying Services (871) and Management & Public Relations (874), which contains other than computer consultants, added most of the new employment to Engineering Services. Auto Repair (75) which includes emissions testing added 2293 employees. SIC changes and expansions and a new UI account caused the addition of 2230 to Social Services (83).
