| Agricultural Production Crops employment increased by 331 on an annualized basis to reach 6,855. Seventy-seven percent of this employment is located outside of the Metro Denver Area. This sector has been growing steadily throughout the decade. The increase may reflect a change from non-covered employees, which are not included in this report, to covered employees, which are. |
| Agricultural Production - Livestock and Animal Specialties continued to increase. The sector posted a 3.1% or 140 job increase reaching an average of 4,732. 1,521 of these jobs were in Weld County as were 75 of the 355 establishments in this sector. |
| The majority of the annual increase recorded in Agriculture, Forestry And Fishing occurred in Agricultural Services, up 724 jobs or 5.3%. Agricultural Services employment averaged 14,450 with almost half of the employment occurring in the five county Denver Metro area. The number of establishments increased by 121 to 2,053. Other counties with large numbers of jobs in this sector include El Paso (1,277), Boulder (1,035), Larimer (952), and Weld (845). Veterinary Services accounted for 293 of the division’s increase. Landscape and Horticulture Services employment increased by 595 to reach 8,389 after recording an increase of 565 the previous year. This sector’s employment is positively correlated with construction projects and population. |
| Forestry and Fishing-Hunting-Trapping made up a surpassingly small percentage of employment in the division totaling 16 establishments and 97 employees. The combined total annual wages for these sectors was $1.45 million. |
