Federal Government

Employment by the Federal Government reversed a four-year downward trend by adding 51 jobs because of an increase of 733 Postal Workers. Though the average annual Federal wage increased by only $293 to $43,240, it still exceeded the average State Government wage by $7,901 and the average Local Government wage by $14,715.

The second largest sector within Federal Government is Administration of Environmental Quality and Housing Programs at 9,295, which declined by 204 jobs. The decline was due to a 207 job decline in Land, Mineral, Wildlife Conservation, which has declined by 2,859 over five years to 8,136.

National Security and International Affairs employment decreased by 336 jobs to 8,745. Forty-seven percent of these jobs were in El Paso County.
