- Dress like other people who work at the
organization.
- Go to the interview alone.
- Be on time or a few minutes early to the
interview.
- Shake hands firmly with the interviewer when you meet
him/her.
- Be yourself. Be honest.
- Listen carefully to what the interviewer is saying.
- Speak clearly and use proper grammar.
- Talk about the skills you have developed that will
benefit the employer.
- At the end of the interview, shake hands and thank the
interviewer(s).
- Do be prepared to ask the interviewer questions about
the position.
- Prepare to answer questions about your skills.

- Wear clothing with words or logos on it.
- Wear a hat, jeans that are too
tight/baggy, or shorts.
- Cross your legs, fold your arms, or touch
your face during the interview. Body
language
signals could indicate a negative attitude, boredom or doubt.
- Speak about a former employer in negative terms.
- Loose your cool.
If it makes you feel more comfortable, tell the
interviewer you are
nervous. It can help to break the ice.
- Smoke or chew gum.
- Wear excessive jewelry, including rings/bars in your tongue, eyebrow,
nose and/or lip.
- Ask about salary, vacations, or promotions until after you receive a job
offer.
- Hang around after the interview is over.
