// Documents You May Need For A Job Interview

Social Security Card

Apply for a Social Security Card at your local U.S. Social Security Administration Office.

Birth Certificate

A birth certificate may be necessary if required by an employer to prove age.  To receive a copy of your birth certificate, contact the county health department of county or state where you were born or your state’s vital records department.

Work Permit (Age Certificate)

Some employers will request a work permit if you are under the age of 18.  There is a common misunderstanding between Age Certificates and Work Permits.  The State of Colorado does not recognize the Work Permit.  If you live in the State of Colorado your local school will be able to provide you with an Age Certificate.  For more information on where to get an Age Certificate, please read the law below.  For more information on age certificates, visit our comparison page.  To obtain a age certificate go to your principal’s office and/or county school board office or school counselor for more information.

Driver's License or State Identification

Many employers request one of these document to verify your identity.  If you’re 16 or over, apply at your local driver’s license office of the Colorado Department of Revenue, Driver’s License Division.

Student ID Card

A student ID Card proves to the employer that you are enrolled in school.  If you do not have a Student ID Card, ask in the office of your school.
